Collaborations:

Alternate Occlusion Treatment Trial:

Alternate Occlusion Treatment Trial (AOTT) is a multi-center, randomized, prospective treatment trial organized by Dr. Malcolm Ing and Smith-Kettlewell. The purpose of the trial is to compare two forms of occlusion therapy used prior to surgery for infantile esotropia. One treatment arm employs full-time alternate occlusion and the other treatment arm employs no occlusion, full or part-time non-alternate occlusion.

Contour integration in amblyopia:

This project involves the development of a new clinical test for contour integration deficits and the application of this test to studying visual development during the course of treatment for strabismus and amblyopia. The contour integration test is in the form of a series of hand-held cards developed in collaboration with Dr. Ilona Kovacs and Dr. Uri Polat. The cards are undergoing validation at the Alder Hey Childrens Hospital in Liverpool under the direction of Dr. Arvind Chandna and Dr. Phillipa Pennefather.
