Special Evening Welcome

The Exploratorium hosted a free evening session for the opening night
of the Fall Vision Meeting, Oct 24th, 6-9 pm. FVM registration was
available, together with no-host bar and light refreshments.

The Exploratorium is the original "hands-on" museum of science,





art and human perception, and is currently featuring a set of 40 new





exhibits on "Seeing" designed by staff neuroscientist Richard Brown and





his colleagues. These new exhibits include an eyetracker and a new





section on Visual Attention, as well as new art works complementing





the science.











Classic old exhibits include the historic original Ames Room and





Ames Chair demonstrations built by Ames himself, a Land and





McCann 2-color projection display, the Cafe Wall restroom, and





numerous Exploratorium originals that have become the models for how





visual science is presented at science museums around the world.











Adelbert Ames, Jr. was the second recipient of the Tillyer Medal




of the Optical Society of America.
