To indicate that a note is "dotted" -- extended by half its length -- follow the note with a dot 3, apostrophe.

To indicate triplets, precede the three notes with dots 2-3, 2 on the keyboard.

The "with" sign that indicates that two patterns of notes occur simultaneously on a multi-voiced instrument comprises two symbols: dots 1-2-6 followed by dots 4-5-3, the Less-than followed by the Greater-than sign.

A musical hyphen is written as dot 5, quotation mark.

Numeric Representations -- Time signatures are written so as to resemble their printed equivalents while remaining on the same Braille line. Thus, a four-four signature comprises three symbols: Number Sign D 4.

A number denoting 3 or more accidentals or measures of rest is written like a conventional Braille number; i.e., four sharps is written as #d%. However, a number denoting an unusual grouping of note values such as a quintuplet is written #5 followed by the affected notes.

Articulation Markings--a simple accent is indicated by dots 4-6 followed by dots 2-3-6, .8 -- that is, a period followed by an 8. preceding the note.

A staccato note is shown by dots 2-3-6, an 8, preceding the note.

A slur is shown by a letter c between two notes. If a note is tied across the bar line the first measure of the tie ends with a dot 4 followed by dots 1-4, @c.

An open bracket is dots 5-6 followed by dots 1-2, ;b and a closed bracket, dots 4-5 followed by dots 2-3, ^2.

A fermata is dots 1-2-6 followed by dots 4-5-6, a tenuto is dots 4-5-6 followed by dots 2-3-6, _8.

a verbal instruction such as "allegro" is preceded by dots 3-4-5, a>and followed by dots 6, a ,.
