Sustained attention is tested in elderly subjects and patients with age-related maculopathies. The goal is to investigate the age-dependence of sustained attention shifts. Preliminary data indicate that there is not a strong age-dependence and that declines in letter recognition performance can mostly be explained by impaired eyesight.
