Abstract

Dr. Santani Teng recently visited the lighthouse and will provide further details of his research in echolocation.

This talk will center on how people with vision loss perceive their environments, including the use of sound and echoes to understand the space and objects surrounding us. This will include how our brains adapt to facilitate this perception and how this scientific knowledge might help us to navigate the world better with assistive techniques and technologies.

The Low Vision Support Group meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 3 p.m. The meetings are held at Smith-Kettlewell, which is located at 2318 Fillmore Street in San Francisco. There is no cost and everyone is welcome to attend.
