The Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Institute is pleased to announce the 20th anniversary meeting of the Low Vision Rehabilitation (LVR) Study Group, an informal yet invaluable gathering of clinicians and researchers dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with low vision. The event will take place in San Francisco, at Smith-Kettlewell, offering a unique opportunity for low vision professionals from across the U.S., Canada, and occasionally Asia and South America to collaborate and share their collective experience.
Unlike traditional conferences, the LVR Study Group meeting does not feature formal presentations. Instead, it provides a dynamic, roundtable discussion format where attendees can engage in meaningful conversations about emerging ideas and challenging cases in the field of low vision rehabilitation. One of the key topics of discussion will be the delivery of rehabilitation care for macular degeneration patients, addressing strategies to enhance activities of daily living and patient outcomes. This meeting plays an important role in bridging the gap between research and clinical reality, ensuring that scientific advancements are effectively translated into practical applications.
“There’s a special camaraderie among us—this meeting is more than just a professional gathering; it’s a kind of support group for those of us who are truly passionate about working with low-vision patients,” said the host of the event, Dr. Don Fletcher.
The meeting is free of charge, underscoring the organizers' commitment to meaningful translational and clinical advancements and collaboration. Participants will have the chance to network, brainstorm, and gain valuable insights to enhance their practice.
