Blind Soldering Workshop

Note: The Blind Soldering workshop will take place at the LightHouse located at 1155 Market St in San Francisco. If you use the Directions link on this page to find your way to the workshop you will go to Smith-Kettlewell, not the site of the workshop. Please use the LightHouse link or address above to get directions to the workshop.

Friday (Nov. 4):

  • 3:00P – Arrival at 1155 Market ST and settling in
  • 5:00P – Introductions and happy hour
  • 6:00P Dinner
  • 7:30-9:00P LH and Lab orientation and overview of workshop
    • Building orientation and safety
    • Lab orientation and course structure
    • Intro to Soldering Irons, solder guides, and landmarking

Saturday (Nov. 5):

  • 8:00 Breakfast
  • 9:00 Morning session
    • The continuity tester circuit and uses
    • Solder lugs – jacks, plugs, and speaker
  • Noon Lunch
  • 1:00 Afternoon Session 1
    • Emitter to center tap
    • Capacitor from transformer to base
    • Resistor to base
  • 2:30 Coffee Break
  • 3:00 Afternoon Session 2
    • Battery connector to transformer and collector
    • Speaker to transformer secondary
    • Plug to resistor and transformer primary (ground)
  • 5:00 Happy Hour
  • 6:00 Dinner
  • 7:00-8:00 Group discussion

Sunday (Nov. 6):

  • 8:00 Breakfast
  • 9:00 Morning session – finishing up
    • Troubleshooting
    • Putting it in the box
  • 11:30 Lab Cleanup
  • 12:00 Lunch and Closure Discussion
