Jampolsky Fellows Reunion 2017

<div class=”field field–name-body field–type-text-with-summary field–label-hidden field__item”><p>On Thursday, July 27, 2017, the 43rd annual reception for the opening of the Jampolsky Fellows Reunion was held at the Fairmont Hotel on Nob Hill, San Francisco.&nbsp; In attendance were 33 fellows, in addition to many spouses, hailing from Baltimore to Buenos Aires to Brazil to Basel to Birmingham.&nbsp; A truly eclectic group of pediatric strabismus ophthalmologists!&nbsp;</p><p>There followed on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, a scientific program of speakers addressing varied clinical problems on strabismus and low vision.&nbsp; Examples included <em>Seeking the Light </em>(about blind authors) by Dr. Creig Hoyt, <em>Prescribing Refractive Correction in Hyperopic&nbsp;Esodeviations</em> by Dr. Arvind Chandna,<em> Vertical Diplopia after Endoscopy Sinus Surgery</em> by Dr. Felisa Shokida, <em>Pediatric Strabismus Surgery in Ontario – Is the Incidence Changing?</em> by Dr. Steve Kraft, and <em>ExoDuane with Upshoot/Downshoot</em> by Dr. Bradley Black. &nbsp;The scientific program was held at the Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Institute’s own facilities.&nbsp; A full social program included dinners at the Cliff House at the Pacific Ocean and the Spinnaker in Sausalito where whales and seals were seen swimming nearby.</p><p>There was a presentation devoted to Dr. Martin Steinbach, long-time fellow, who recently died in his native Canada and was sorely missed at the various talks and seminars.&nbsp;&nbsp; Martin had also been on the Board of Directors of Smith-Kettlewell for many years.</p><p>This annual Fellows Reunion honors Dr. Art Jampolsky, who is the founder of Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Institute in San Francisco. &nbsp;&nbsp;The event brings together the many clinical fellows from all over the world that he trained in strabismus practice and research.</p><p>&nbsp;</p></div>
