As a pediatric low vision ophthalmologist I have dedicated my career to prevent childhood blindness. I started a small program in Sao Paulo , Brazil and for 35 years worked in close collaboration with international experts in low vision , supported by NGOs ( CBM, Perkins Int, Rotary Int, World Childhood Found ) exchanging experiences to create reference centers for visually impaired children and their families in latin american countries. Working at Chandna's Lab with prof Arvind Chandna and helping the team to implement a remote virtual project on Cerebral Visual Impairment is very rewarding . I am contributing to develop a web-based application for CVI diagnosis as part of a global project for the early detection of visual deficits caused by brain lesions in children.
The purpose of this research study is to learn about how cerebral visual impairment affects everyday visually guided behaviours and determine interventions to treat the difficulties. This study is conducted remotely through telephone or video link and also in person at the laboratory.
