In the Summer Institute 2025 course, “Empowering Data Vision: A Self-Paced Introduction to the Convergence of AI and Data Science“, blind students learned non-visual approaches for using low-code and no-code techniques to create their own tools and workflows for accessing their data, powered by AI. In the process, they learned data science basics, including techniques for importing, cleaning up, transforming and analyzing data, as well as data visualization techniques using the MAIDR software package that are fully accessible. Students completed a final project for the course in which they chose a dataset to analyze and wrote a structured written report describing the dataset, the analyses performed and their findings. This written report was also accompanied by a recorded presentation of the project, narrated by each student, in addition to at least two data visualization exports in html form created using MAIDR.
