Abstract

Abstract:

The importance of writing clean code is often overlooked in research environments. Bad code can function, it's true, but when programming, most of our time is spent reading code rather than writing it. If our code is poorly written we can end up wasting countless hours trying to understand what it does and why it does it! In this talk, we will go over some simple but effective guidelines to improve the readability and the maintainability of your code, and we will work together to improve a very simple piece of code.
