Abstract
Question: What is the projected prevalence and incidence of low vision (LV) and blindness from 2017 to 2050?
Findings: The number of new cases of low vision and blindness each year, estimated by the annual incidence,
more than doubles from 2017 to 2050.
Meaning: Regarding health care delivery, prevalence and incidence rates show a significant increase in the need
for low vision rehabilitation services due to the aging of the population.
