Abstract

Understanding speech involves both hearing AND vision. In this presentation, Dr. Helen J. Simon will describe hearing loss and how the two senses are related in understanding the spoken word.

She will also be talking about a fun new project to train people with low vision and hearing loss to understand speech.

Join Dr. Don Fletcher, one of the world’s leading authorities on Low Vision Rehabilitation, to share experiences and learn about the things that help you maintain a full and happy life while living with low vision. This support group is completely free. Each month a new topic will be discussed. There will also be opportunities to learn about the cutting edge research on low vision happening at Smith-Kettlewell.

The Low Vision Support Group meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 3 pm. The meetings are held at Smith-Kettlewell, which is located at 2318 Fillmore Street in San Francisco. There is no cost and everyone is welcome to attend.
